“Djembe 101” is a beginning instructional djembe book, DVD and 78 track play along CD. This book is designed to assist you in becoming a better djembe player. Whether you are a novice or have been playing for awhile, practicing the concepts introduced in “Djembe 101”, will raise your abilities as a djembe player. “Djembe 101” is not a book filled with West African rhythms, rather it is a book that presents a fun, simple, organized approach to better understanding timing and technique when playing West African rhythms on the djembe. With a better understanding of these two concepts, you will develop greater skills on the djembe drum, your enjoyment level while playing West African rhythms will increase, and hopefully you will be inspired to pursue more knowledge from the African master drummers.

With nearly three sold out performances, audiences were mesmerized by this original multi-media production featuring six live dancers and live drum performances, film, sound-tracking, and narration. “Durga: Goddess of the Drum” depicts one woman’s journey on the drum from ancient times through modern day, presented from the perspective of a lovely, humorous drum goddess named Durga. The show parallels the evolution of the drum with the migration of man, and brings awareness to the similarities of the purpose of drumming in different cultures since the beginning of time. “Durga: Goddess of the Drum” features Liz Broscoe, a drummer who has achieved critical renown, chronicling the history of women’s role in drumming.

A DVD showcasing the many aspects of Drumchik Productions: Educational outreach school programs designed to be entertaining while presenting an educational, cultural experience. Emphasis on these educational outreach school programs is placed on acceptance of cultural diversity, respect, unity, community and reverence for the earth, while featuring the West African Djembe.
