This is an original version that was never put on the album. This song was scheduled to be the main ballad on the "Journey Home" LP.
This song has many levels as you will hear from the lyrics. Very appropriate for today.

Bob Rosenberg created this mix in 1986 as Hot 105's first Hot Mix Master. This was 1 year before he released Dreamin' under the name Will to Power.
This mix was also the first time that 2 Live Crew was heard on the radio with Throw the D. Bob got credited as King of the Edits on their first album.
This is a real Electro mix using Planet Rock, Al Naafysh and of course, Running by Information Society.
Note: These edits where done before computer editing was around. I used a Tascam Reel-to-Reel, Razor Blades and Turntables to do these effects. I also added Drum Effects with an Oberheim DMX which I also used live and like much more than the Roland TR 808.

This was the final Hot Mix that Bob Rosenberg created for Hot 105 in July 1986. He released "Dreamin'" by Will to Power 8 months later and went on to create several albums and #1 Hits.
DJ Laz took all of Bob's master tapes with him to Power 96 when Bob got him a job there.
This, The Lime Mix and several others were played on Power 96 throughout the 90s.

Original Freestyle version of title cut from second album. This sounds much more "Will to Power" than what Sony put on album.
Note: I noticed several digital audio drop outs and stutters. I will retransfer and correct these ASAP.

Title Track of 1990 album......................
Video dedicated to M109 Riders Groups all over the world. Harley Riders eat our dust!.....................
Music Critic Chuck Eddy covers this track extensively in his book: "The Accidental Evolution of Rock 'n' Roll"..................................

"Will to Power" - "Journey Home" 1990. Title track of what might end up my favorite track of the 90's. "Journey Home", Bob Rosenberg says - He's got to keep his motor running, but not only can you feel the machines momentum running ( in the rhythm ) you can also feel storm clouds settling in ( in the voices ) the words detail the final leg of a car trip you're sick of. A woman tells him there's no turning back. " No turning back, time's a wastin' "; Rosenberg shifts them gears."

First song I ever wrote. Too bad I did not go with Henry Stone and Produce it the way I want which was down tempo using a DMX drum machine.
Louis Martinez (AKA Lewis Martinee' the famous French producer) told me that rap would be dead by 1986 so decided it would be better with a "Latin Beat".
The song was released and shot up to #1 on Hot 105 (before I was working there) the first week. Universal served Pantera Records a Cease and Desist because of the name so they pulled it the second week.
You may hear a familiar music hook on the part that says "Your Rockin' to the beat in the magic city". It is the same line heard throughout Expose's "Season's Change". My song was written a year earlier. Lewis worked on both. Figure it out.

Will to Power 1990 rant which attracted an underground following. Music Critic Chuck Eddy did a favorable 3 page review of this song in LA Weekly.
..............
Chuck also discusses this track in his book: "The Accidental Evolution of Rock "n" Roll"
............................
(page 175)
"On their 1990 "Journey Home" album, Florida Folk-Disco, Vesuvius-Climbers Will To Power jumped directly from scoffing at new age spiritualism and endorsing the NRA in "Koyaanisqatsi" into a cover of Heatwave's 1977 bubblebump hit "Boogie Nights". "
........................................
(pages 99-100)
"The usual perils of middle-class twenty-something romance; the occasional male voice belongs to songwriter/producer/Fuhrer Bob Rosenberg, who quotes Nietzsche and Solzhenitsyn, insults " knee-jerk liberals," demands relaxed gun control laws, and says he won't let his anger linger because it'd be bad for his aim and his trigger finger
- honest !"
........................................
The song is very appropriate for today. If anything, it was written 20 years too early. Special thanks to RNEM.
