This may not be quite what you were expecting... This performance was from a jam session on Palolem beach in Goa, India from December 2008. The Jasmine holds a jam session at night at on the beach on wednesdays. Puts out a few tables and lights a small bonfire. People roll up and hang out on the beach until the early hours. When guitarist and singer Gann got up to play a few tunes, he was gracious enough to accept my request to get up and jam along. Big kudos to Gann because we had never met before this moment and I could've turned out to be a lousy guitar player or just a drunken chancer and made him look awful... Gann starts off by saying, "This one's kind of er... B minor" I found out later the tune is called "The St James Infirmary Blues" Later I spent some time with Gann and apart from being a walking American Songbook he turned out to be a top dude. Track title is Human Evolution by Cosmosis from the 2002 "Contact" album. Played as an encore as Universo Paralello 2007. I got some earache from various people (usually goatee stroking trance afficionado types) for including this track on my 2002 album Contact. In retrospect perhaps it wasn't the best idea to include it on an album as it really is one of those tunes that I wrote primarily for playing in my live sets. However, I don't regret it nearly as much as wearing those dodgy orange shorts that you see me wearing in the video. Because if you have the nerve to drop this tune at the right place and at just at the right moment, it's capable of bringing the house down - as you can see at the end of the video...
