READ THE DISCLAIMER (see read more)! The Head Brothers, Boof & Dick, are roadies & they're hung over. The Demon of Commercial Television takes over their minds & sends them on a strange trip to the Real Reality. There they meet Steven Seagull, a bird with an identity crisis & hang out in the Flamingo Lounge, a surreal den of iniquity controlled by the evil Madame Magdalena. Animated cartoon by Barry Ferrier (circa 1999).
A home-made animatronic developed as a pilot for television idea about '99. Being a collaboration it doesn't reflect my politics or taste... but I found some of the development process interesting.
The Steven Seagull sequence had it's beginning as snippets from my very earliest animation experiments strung together into a showreel. Jingle writer Ian Mason improvised a narrator voice over a good bottle of red or three one evening in the studio and he also suggested the Boof and Dick characters (added later) and wrote and spoke their dialogue. These bits still make me cringe as I was never a real fan of the Bazza McKenzie tradition of crass ocker humour.
Most of the rest of the dialogue (the Flamingo Lounge) was developed by trawling the net and music sample cds for interesting one liner sound bites and seeing where these random snippets went to when woven together into a simulated dialogue. You could say 'selective chance' wrote the script. A rich vein of source material was a cd of satirical impersonations of American presidents George W and Bill Clinton I found in a Harvey Norman bargain bin. See if you can recognise these!
DISCLAIMER: Probably very offensive to some - take it with a grain of salt as a silly bit of experimental fun not meant for public display. But such is the very nature of the internet.

Unserious song and animated video clip by Dr. Baz, with vocals by Slm Pickens. Features Hugh Hefner, Albert Einstein Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash on backing vocals. We all need heroes, and a little hope, and we'll all get along just fine!
They shouldn't give people like me these dangerous tools to play with!

No, it ain't country. Home recording of an original song and animated video clip by Barry Ferrier all done in my little white laptop courtesy of the capitalist system. All instruments played by me, the ultimate auteur, except a jembe by Rick Brewer which you can't actually hear, but when you take it out of the mix, a whole dark element of grunt falls out of the track. The Barry Ferrier Band - Live at the Beach Hotel, Byron Bay (circa Xmas 1995). My surf guitar instrumental. Played on my beautiful old Gibson 335,which was destroyed by fire later that year. Brad on bass, Sam on rhythm guitar, Rick Cole on drums. The boys look studious because they're reading charts! Video by Harry (thanks mate!).

A fantasy animation by Dr. Baz. Back in the pioneering days of desktop animation this was a pretty cute little experiment. Created on a little ol Mac computer sometime in the mid-nineties when it was seriously hard to produce something like this - I think it took 3 or 4 days to render, and i had the biggest hard-drive in the country (for a bout a week) :10 gig.

A collage of animations by Barry Ferrier (Dr. Baz). Way back in the early 90s in the famous days of my first 10 gig hard drive - this was really hot stuff to be making at home! OK so it's a lot easier to do it now... but I still get a bit of a kick out of the sick and twisted nature of my imagination - all original footage shot on location at Ballina Swimming Pool and airport, Uluru and SeaWorld.
