Michael Korb "Circles" Video (Acoustic)

05:40
Visit Michael Korb on the web at http://www.michaelkorbmusic.com and http://www.myspace.com/michaelkorb Visit Winged Disk Records on the web at http://www.wingeddiskrecords.com Michael Korb, from Long Island, New York, performs an acoustic version of "Circles," a track from his debut album, GHOSTS. Mike played two songs during this video session -- the other was a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." We choose to make the video simple -- it consists of a direct live performance using only one floodlight (which we found in Mike's garage), and there are no edits. Some noise reduction and reverb were applied to the original recording, which was from the camera's condenser mic. Korb is currently working on his next album, SLEEPWALKER. Assembled by Rich Black. LYRICS ive made up my mind again and im leaving this place 'cause every time i turn around the room changes shape and theres talk of a spirit that lives in this town hiding behind a fishnet shroud manakins keeping tabs on me the paranoia wont let me sleep im making sense of the things i see or am i running in circles in my head again take a walk down the smoky steps and turn around climb back up the branches and dont look down i want to tell you everything and how i feel but they say youre not even real the sirens upon a floating veil showing the meat that theyve got for sale between her legs is a devils tail am i running in circles i know ive been here and im coming to realize ive been paralyzed its becoming clear find me a bag to pack ive fallen off the track everyones waiting while im slowly fading from my distraction losing my traction in a place with no sun ive got some time to kill but not enough time until something takes me out come on i just want someone and down the hazy hills i go awake and aware hope to see you there ive been running in circles i could swear ive been here and im coming to realize ive been paralyzed its becoming clear come on i just want someone

Michael Korb Performs "Hallelujah" By Leonard Cohen

06:12
Visit Michael Korb on the web at http://www.michaelkorb.com and http://www.myspace.com/michaelkorb Visit Winged Disk Records on the web at http://www.wingeddiskrecords.com Long Island's Michael Korb does an acoustic version of "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen. Korb obviously admires Jeff Buckley's interpretation of the song, but succeeds in making this quiet, powerful version his own. Driven by economic necessity, we originally challenged ourselves to keep the video simple, but ultimately concluded that the song might also be best served by simply documenting Korb's hypnotic, unadorned performance. The camera was borrowed. Bedsheets were used to cover up windows to darken the room. We found a single small flood in Mike's garage and aimed it up from the floor to cast shadows. There's no editing, aside from some simple filters and the fade in/out. The sound wasn't even put through a mixing board -- it was recorded by the camcorder's condenser mic with only some noise reduction applied later.

Controlled Bleeding "Bees (Parts 1 - 6)" Video

04:24
Controlled Bleeding is an experimental group that originally formed in Boston around 1978 by Paul Lemos, Jack Salerno and Dave Southerland. Later, returning to Massapequa, New York, Lemos joined forces with old school chums, Gary Pecorino and Tony Meola in the first recorded version of the band, creating instrumental music that has been described as a collision between The Ramones and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Pecorino and Lemos would soon part ways due to musical differences over the presence of the three hundred pound scat singing eccentric that is Joe Papa. (Papa answered an ad for a singer in a local music paper, since the group was getting frustrated by the lack of response to their instrumental exercises). With the addition of Chris Moriarty on drums and a few other players, the band continued briefly, but soon imploded after their first disastrous show with the new expanded line up. Frustrated working with others, Lemos soon started venting his inner poisons through solo experiments in pure screaming cacophony, first documented on the SWALLOWING SCRAP METAL cassette compilation issued in 1982. After receiving encouraging response to these first noise experiments, Lemos recruited Moriarty and Papa once more and soon embarked on a violent creative course that resulted in cassette releases on early noise labels like Broken Flag, XXX, and Swinging Axe. The band's classic first album, KNEES AND BONES which now stands as one of the earliest documents of American power electronics, was issued in 1983. Through the course of the next few years, the group would issue a number of varied releases, moving away from pure noise into more textural areas. Albums like BODY SAMPLES, CURD, SONGS FROM THE DRAIN, and BETWEEN TIDES capture the group's raw, increasingly sophisticated aesthetic, blending elements of noise, prog rock, sacred music and musique concrete into something that was very much their own. The band's sound is confusingly varied from album to album and has contained elements of dub, free jazz, noise, prog, sacred music, dark ambient, classical and music concrete. "Bees (Parts 1 - 6)," a collection of six short pieces combining spastic, experimental jazz with head-splitting noise, is included on BROKEN OUT AND WHITE AS FUCK, due out in 2009. Assembled by Rich Black Controlled Bleeding Paul Lemos: Bass, Vocals, Guitar Joe Papa: Vocals With assistance from Jay d'Nofrio on drums. Confusion, corruption and ten other maladies put them right out on the edge The regular Army abandoned their barracks and burned them right down to the ground The cheering grew louder, they touched off the powder and man what a thunderous sound! [chorus] Right! Right! Right! That’s all! Now little Lolita had honey much sweeter than any ten bees around! A sweet little thing that proceeded to fling with a prince now ascending the throne Things would have been fine less three barrels of wine when he smacked her and told her “Go Down” He treated her mean, he proceeded to scream, when she bit off his fucking crown! [chorus] And now we're off to sunny Spain, to the bullfights Where the matadors are worshipped by beautiful women This is the scene where the bull circles ‘round behind the matador And gores him in the ass. A favorite of the crowd! We're off to the races in wonderful places like bullfights in old Madrid OLE! Where up in the stands all the cheering is grand and the spectacle ‘bout to begin TORO! Sweet kisses will fly from the beautiful girls who admire the men in the ring TEQUILA! The matador thrashed! As the bull gored his ass and the crowd all began to scream! RIGHT! [chorus]
