CHASE THE SUN – The Living Free Tour
Sydney trio Chase The Sun are hitting the tarmac to launch their new double A-side single “Living Free/Sweet Candy”. The Living Free Tour will kick off with a show at The Vanguard in Sydney on April 8th and will take in the better part of the East Coast including Brisbane, Melbourne, Bluesfest in Byron Bay, and a bunch of places in between.
The track Living Free sees Chase The Sun break from the acoustic roots sound of their debut album with a slab of cranking southern rock, fast and loud. Sweet Candy features the slide guitar at its sleaziest. Both tracks can be previewed at www.myspace.com/chasethesunband and will be available on iTunes from mid April. Chase The Sun’s new album is due October this year.
About Chase The Sun
Chase The Sun formed in 2006; and in the time since have seen their star rise steadily, making a definite mark on the Australian Blues & Roots music scene. Their debut self titled album was released in October 2007.
Chase The Sun the album entered the US Billboard Blues Album Chart at #13 following an iTunes promotion in October 2008 which saw the lead single “You Gotta Go” available as a free download from the iTunes home page. The album reached #1 on the iTunes blues chart and lead tracks from the album remained in the top 100 downloads for the blues and roots category worldwide for several weeks. “Chase The Sun” was launched in Japan in November 2008 and interest in the band is growing steadily right around the world.
Chase The Sun have collected a number of accolades in their short time together including the 2007 Australian Blues Award for Best Group and Best Song As well as The MusicOz award for best instrumental artist, having been nominated in multiple categories at both awards.
“Sometimes a trio comes along and impresses with their sheer power, dexterity and originality...This is the sort of band you can put anywhere, from beer barn to amphitheatre, and they will win people over...Chase The Sun have put their own stamp on the blues and roots genre and, quite simply, there isn’t a weak moment on their debut release” Drum Media Nov 07.
Jan Rynsaardt, Ryan Van Gennip and Jon “Howler” Howell met after an acoustic jam session in Sydney’s west and their chemistry was instantly phenomenal. Clicking into action immediately, Chase The Sun were in a studio in Sydney’s Blue Mountains to record an album within days of meeting and since then have established themselves as a must-see live act through an increasingly hectic touring schedule in venues and at festivals all over Australia.
“You Gotta Go” gained great momentum on airwaves around the country, including play on Triple J, ABC National and Qantas in-flight radio Rock On Q, plus received great support from leading community radio stations nationally.
The Album “Chase The Sun” is available on iTunes globally and in Australia in all good music stores through MGM distribution.
