Another classic soul/funk tune by Meshell.

Simple but oh, so funky.

Meshell Ndegeocello is one of my absolute favorite bassists. I just tried to lock in with the groove and keep it simple but funky.

Using a better quality video cam now. So hopefully the picture and sound are a little better. I played the bassline on my electric upright, and using my Boomerang looper, I comped for mysef and then just soloed on top of the whole thing. Blues is a bitch. It is always a challenge.

Just stabbing away at a minor blues.

Well I took three whacks at this relatively simple H. Hancock tune "Cantaloupe Island". I treated the Db13 as Db13(#11) to get that Lydian Dominant sound on it. I also tried to play some "outside" things. Nothing preconceived really, just went where my ear took me. Who said jazz was easy?
