Music video to "Robert Mackenzie" by Paul Gross. Used for the Due South third season finale "Mounty on the Bounty", and featured on his indie album "two houses".
I made this in 2003. Poor quality as this was shot on a webcam. Only the second time I tried something like this. I added several Strom Trooper voice samples from the LucasArts/RavenSoft game, "Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast", to help give the illusion of a battle.

I made this in 2003. This work was done with the "TerraGen" (and TerrAnim) freeware terrain generation package. I made four animations, with varying rendering quality and edited them together. I was inspired by a scene from the film "Highlander 3: The sorcerer".

I made this in 2003. There were three things used to blend this Anim8or animation into the still photo background. Virtual lighting was used to blend him in with the ambient light of the photo. B8a was composited by use of the alpha channel, and subtraction masking was used to place him between elements of the photo. Finally I used some Gaussian blurring to simulate him moving beyond the focal point of the camera. I also used a freeware program called SayIt to synthesise the voice.
It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally happy to let it out. It's a three minute video, but took me six weeks to produce (including building the 3D model), and I finally completed it in January 2004. The main aim here was to mix 3D computer animation with live action, simply because I've never done it before. I like Star Wars, and I happened to have a 3D model which I built last year lying around, so it became a Star Wars homage too. Because there were so many elements to set up in this film I had to write a story board (See, you don't need to be good at drawing to make one!). Feel free to leave comments.

I made this in 2004. This was my second attempt at 'direct interaction' cloning. Last time I basically cut the screen in half, and just allowed 'over lapping extrusions' for the light sabres. Plus the only interaction was the sabres crossing, now the interaction is much more direct. Here I filmed an empty background and then filmed myself in each position. The hand-over isn't perfect, but I think it's fast enough to work, as long as you're not looking for errors.
I made this in 2004. This was my first experiment with digital panning. Which means the camera is not moved during recording, despite the appearance of the clip. I also used this an opportunity to do the force-lightning fight (based on a scene for SWII:AOTC) I'd been thinking of for a while. The explosion effects came from Detonation Films.
I made this in 2004. Here I thought it was about time I started doing some projects that I hadn't seen any tips or tutorials about. So, taking inspiration from one of my favourite Science-Fiction shows I had a go at replicating the effects from "Quantum Leap" (by Donald Belissario).
This is the first part of my tribute, the leap effect. The sound effect was obtained from the Al's Place website.
