The first summer Carrie Tree came to the island was the summer in episode 4. We spent a lot of time that summer with Carrie Tree, David Saw and Ben Taylor as they worked on some incredible music. On the last day before she had returned home, she met us on this beach in Aquinnah for a final swim. It was a perfect day in August on the island, and I remember thinking then it was too bad we didn’t have a camera on the beach to film it.
This summer when we learned that Carrie was coming back to the island, we vowed to not let the chance for the beach sessions slip away this time. On Carrie’s last day, she came up to Aquinnah, and we went to the beach and filmed Carrie singing this and several other of her songs.

Turns out some house-guests turn into extended family and musical collaborators in the Simon household. Singer/songwriter David Saw, who originally came from London to write songs and create music with Ben Taylor, also began working with Ben's mother, Carly Simon. Carly and David work on the words and melody to "How Could You Ever Forget?" which appears on her album, "This Kind of Love".
The Black Brook Singers of the Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah on the island of Martha's Vineyard use Native American musical traditions to create new songs for today.
Singer/songwriter David Saw was asked by his fans how he comes up with ideas for songs. In this video, David takes us into Parr Audio, the studio where he's cutting his new album, and talks about the songwriting process using a very unique instrument. This is the first of several behind-the scenes clips on the making of David's album that we will show on our DocuTune Channel here on YouTube.
