Maggie Hadleigh-West and Mad-G Productions are actively seeking finishing funds for “Player Hating” to assist in saving the lives of young African American men that are experiencing premature and violent deaths in poor neighborhoods all over the US. All donations of $50 or more will be given credit in the finished film under the heading Stop the Violence Donor’s. (Please consider larger contributions in order to expedite the completion of this film.) Full proposal available upon request. Please donate now. Hope and money poured into Manhattan as a result of the World Trade Center attacks, yet 30 minutes away lies a forgotten community where death and destruction are as constant as breathing… “Player Hating” is a feature length documentary that follows the lives of hip hop artist Half-a-Mill and his Brooklyn crew as they write, perform and launch Half’s first album, “Milion” in a desperate bid to escape hopelessness, poverty and death. Through the eyes of an urban poet and philosopher, “Player Hating” reveals the tragedy of living in a violent community, abandoned by government and maintained through humor, dignity, and the sheer will to survive. Definition: Player Hating- “Someone else is about to shine, and you’ll do anything to keep that motherfucker from getting his cheese --- it can be as subtle as negative flow (lyrics) or as extreme as trying to clap (shoot) him.” - Trent Bond, Half’s Manager and former NYPD Detective.

War Zone

03:16
"War Zone” (Produced by Hank Levine) is about sex, power and what happens when men---either knowingly or unknowingly - threaten a woman’s right to walk undisturbed on the streets. Shot all over the US, Hadleigh-West turns her camera on men in the same way that they turn their aggression on her. “War Zone” is incredibly explosive as footage as the filmmaker places herself in very real danger by daring to ask the men on the streets why they are treating a complete stranger in a sexual way. In the process, she has been hit, yelled at, apologized to and engaged in mesmerizing conversations with the men that have harassed her. Through these conversations, Hadleigh-West reveals the anger, fear and frustration as well as the affection, admiration and humor that characterizes relationships between men and women. “War Zone” premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in the Forum for New Cinema, where it was nominated for the grand prize, played to sold-out crowds, received heated response and extensive publicity. The theatrical release of “War Zone” began at the prestigious Film Forum in New York City. “War Zone”” is currently shown through out the US and Europe, always generating controversy, debate and publicity. This film has garnered many Hollywood supporters including Susan Sarandon, Marlo Thomas, Gregory Hines, Janeane Garafolo, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Susan Faludi and many more. In 2002 “War Zone” became an educational tool of the Department of Defense (Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute). It is currently used in labs and seminars to educate all branches of the military around issues of sexism, sexual harassment and sexual assault.
