Trailer for My Heart Is An Idiot, a documentary by David Meiklejohn and Davy Rothbart.
Spanning two years and over a hundred cities, My Heart Is An Idiot captures Davy Rothbart's manic road-tripping lifestyle as he tours North America in a van promoting his magazine FOUND, an annual collection of discarded and recovered notes, letters, photographs, and ephemera. Along the way, Davy seeks advice on his tortured love life from a motley crew of characters (including Zooey Deschanel, Ira Glass, Newt Gingrich, and a guy named Steve who is sitting outside a gas station in the mountains of Oregon), and attempts to follow that advice, with surprising results.

A few days ago a friend told me about one way to get a tapeworm out of your body: fast for a few days, then breathe in from a bowl of warm soup, and the tapeworm will work its way up and you can grab it when it crawls out of your mouth.
This videochunk is sort of like that.
It took some coaxing, but I pulled myself away from editing on my computer screen to.... edit this for you on my computer screen.
My Heart is an Idiot, a documentary film, coming in the future sometime.
For more info: www.myheartisanidiot.com
Videochunk number four! WITNESS: A gory toenail accident, medicine ball madness, a charming woman passionately saying the word "ballsy", the mask of the face of the man who wears it, a dog that drags his back legs (yet is not paralyzed), an automatic rifle that creates happiness, and more*!
SEE THE SPECTACLE!!!!!!!1
* and by "more" I mean "trampoline backflips, muscle men, and NBA dissing."

Like Sherman's March doused in Maker's Mark, My Heart Is An Idiot is a cautionary kiss on the lips of Generation Irony. When everyone has a strategy, love is unbelievable.

Chapter one, in which our protagonist recalls the circumstances whence came the inspiration for the worthy pursuit of the aforementioned non-fictional motion picture. Co-starring some totally bitchin' bowling.
Videochunk number two. Topics include riding in vans with boys, ass-kissing, keeping things whole, devon sproule, okkervil river, rise against, damali ayo, a guy named peter from toronto, a place called hell, and a horse thief.
Videochunk number one. Topics include: Newt Gingrich, kangaroos, a stinky van covered in stickers, Davy Rothbart, the ferry to Roberts Creek, romantic love, Rainer Maria Rilke, Damali Ayo, Charles Baxter, Devon Sproule, and balloons. Congraduations, gratulates!
I'm excited to see the final product. Love and my heart's IQ is something I spend a lot of time thinking about (to my annoyance). I don't get why my heart feels the way it does and it's strange that it feels so independent of the rest of me.
