Follow the sailing vessel Seaductress as she travels 10,000 miles from Tennesee to the Caribbean to Maine and back...with three great original songs from the Splitting Hares. Cruising World yawned and passed this one over in their video contest. Oh, yeah!
The world was a different place. The year was--well, who knows what year it was, but it was a pretty long time ago, more than a decade, I'm sure. In those days, we mounted yearly expeditions to canoe the West Fork and Section II of the mighty Chattooga. But this year was special, because this was the year that the Olympic team of Patten & Torres made their paddling debut.
The idea was to learn to play the guitar, write a hit tune, and retire to the islands, all within a three week period. This original song and video was the unfortunate result. Later I wrote actual lyrics for the song, but I never got around to recording them.
This tape is the only record of a 2005 expedition that included an overnight canoe trip to the Okefenokee Swamp, an overnight at Sea Camp on Cumberland Island, and an afternoon canoe trip down Juniper Springs. Watch inadequate paddling and vicious attacks by high school youths, mosquitoes, and thunderstorms. Not shown: 14 foot alligator at Juniper Springs which some intrepid expedition members were so eager to see that they ended up going into the water for a closer look.
