The Literary Arts Fellowship and Residency program awards two nine-month fellowships annually to fiction writers, poets, playwrights, and screenwriters who reside in the Bronx.
Peter Selgin’s stories and essays have appeared in dozens of magazines and anthologies. He is the author of By Cunning & Craft: Sound Advice and Practical Wisdom for Fiction Writers, to be published February 2007. His novel, Life Goes to the Movies, was a finalist for the James Jones First Novel Fellowship, and his short story collection, Bodies of Water, was short-listed for the Iowa Short Fiction Award. He leads an annual workshop in Vitorchiano, Italy, and edits the journal Alimentum: The Literature of Food.
Ms. Llanos-Figueroa’s work can be seen in the spring 1999 issue of The Writer’s Voice Journal and in Shooting Star Review. She has been awarded both the Bronx Council on the Arts 1995 ACE and 1998 BRIO awards for Fiction and the BRIO award for Creative Non-fiction in 2002. Recent publications include short pieces in Lost and Found: An Anthology of Teacher Writing (2003), Acts of Emancipation: An Anthology of Teacher Writing (2005), Rosebud (Spring 2005), Chicken Soup for the Latino Soul (2005) and Growing Up Girl: An Anthology of Voices from Marginalized Spaces (2006). A retired English teacher and librarian, Ms. Llanos-Figueroa taught creative writing, language and literature for thirty years in the NYC public schools. Currently, she is working on her yet to be published novel Legacy and a collection of short stories and creative non-fiction pieces called Snapshots of a Woman’s Life. Her work is nurtured by her roots in the Puerto Rican communities both on the island and in NYC.

One of the few modern jazz clarinet players, Neal Haiduck has performed throughout the world as sideman and soloist. He began performing at an early age as a Klezmer musician with his accordion playing grandfather, Sam Haiduck. Educated at the Manhattan School of Music, Haiduck plays jazz and classical music and teaches at Monroe College.
