xHow to change an image from RGB to CMYK. For an image to be print ready, you must convert your image to CMYK. When you open an image in Photoshop the default color mode is usually RGB. To check, go to the image menu and select mode. As you can see it is RGB. But it needs to be CMYK, so change it to CMYK and your good to go. Now your one closer to your sticker. Thanks for watching

How to determine the maximum print size of your image using photoshop. For your sticker to be the highest quality, we require a 300 dpi image. If your image is larger than your desired sticker size, all you have to do is reduce your image size to achieve 300 dpi. If your image is smaller than your sticker size you cannot up-scale without loosing resolution, making it insufficient for printing.. I'll show you how to rescale your image without loosing resolution. First, go to the image menu, and select the "image size" option. As you can see the image size is rather large, but the resolution is not. Simply un-click the resample image button and change the resolution to 300. Now your sticker can print at 5 x 3.75 in or smaller and will look great! Thanks for watching.

How To Outline Fonts In Adobe Illustrator Avoid having to find and send fonts to your printer with Illustrator files. For printers to use Illustrator files that contain type made with fonts they either need the actual font file or the fonts need to be outlined. First open the file that you need to outline the fonts in. First, select the type that needs to be outlined. Then goto the font menu, and select the "outline fonts" option. Then save your file. Now you don't have to hunt down the fonts to send to your printer. Thanks for watching

Hi, I'm John Fischer. I'm the owner and founder of StickerGiant and today I want to talk about color matching on screens to printed material. So, here are two stickers that we printed that are good full range color stickers. They have good examples of color in them. Everyday we get emails and we get files from customers over our website. Often customers say, "Can you just match the color on the screen in your file?" If color is not critical, that works. But if color is really important and critical to you, it doesn't work. There's a lot of reasons why, and rather than get into all of the technical reasons why, I just thought I'd show you... I have four screens set up over here. As you can see these are four screens that are normally adjusted screens, to you and I, if it was your monitor at home, it would look great. Your brain automatically color adjusts to make the color look normal. So, the next question is how do we color match when we're separated by distance and can't look at the same thing? There's a system and we use Pantone Color Matching System to match. This is a Pantone book, it has a wide range of colors and they're all printed to match, exactly. This is a four color process Pantone book, so I could compare this to things that are printed cyan, magenta, yellow and black on a four color process press. Or, you can use the Pantone Formula book, which actually has Pantone color matching inks, where the inks match the book. We have one, your designer has one and the people running our printing presses have these books and they all match. When color is critical, don't rely on your screen. Rely on a popular color matching system like Pantone or some other color correct proofing method and you'll be happy with the results. I'm John Fischer, thanks for watching.

Silkscreen printing is an everyday part of our lives. This printing method has its origins in China almost 3000 years ago. Many of the stickers we print are silkscreen printed like these Laughing Squid stickers. This sticker has a green impression, and a black impression. When combined, they make a two color sticker. Two screens mounted on a rigid frame are created, one for the green impression and one for the black impression. The yellow areas are where the ink will pass through the screen. The green screen is mounted on the printing press making sure it is aligned properly. A specially formulated green ink is prepared,….and a pre-measured amount is applied to the screen. 2 large squeegees set the ink in place, and the machine begins to feed the adhesive backed vinyl sheets into the machine. A series of suction cups and steel fingers make sure the sheets go in one at a time. Two large squeegees alternate spreading ink across the screen and then scraping it off again. The ink is squeezed through the screen onto the vinyl sheets. The inks are dried instantly using ultraviolet light. This job required 500 sheets to be printed. The sheets are stacked and taken back to the front of the press. The screen is cleaned and the ink is put away to be used another day. Now the black screen is carefully mounted on the press. Black ink is applied, and the sheets are fed back into the machine. The process is repeated applying the black impression onto previously printed sheets. The printing process is completed and the sheets are fed through a slitting machine. Each sheet gets four slits so the stickers have a crack and peel backing. The stickers are ready to be trimmed in this cutting machine. After careful alignment the 5 horizontal cuts are made consecutively. This machine requires the operator to use two hands to activate the blade. This reduces the risk of injury. The sheets are turned and the process is repeated making the 7 vertical cuts. Once the trimming is complete, a simple rubber band keeps the finished stickers in order. And that's how 2-color Laughing Squid stickers are made at StickerGiant.

Hi I'm John Fischer, I'm the owner and founder of StickerGiant, and today I am here with Todd. Todd owns a guitar store here in Longmont, Colorado – a retailer for high end guitars. Most of you know one of our best customers for custom printing is Fender Guitars and we recently did two stickers for them. This is a two color sticker that says Road Worn and it's die-cut into a unique shape. W e also did a four color version of the exact sticker. We didn't know what road worn was, so I came down to Guitars, Etc today to ask Todd to explain, What is Road Worn by Fender? Sure, so Road Worn is a series that is being launched at the Winter Namm show in Anaheim, CA the week of January 14th. Fender will unveil four Stratocasters, two Telecasters, two P Bases and 2 Jazz Bases. And basically what the term road worn means is that Fender builds brand new guitars with all the things you want in a brand new guitar – they tune well, play well and look great. But then they take the guitars and distress the finishes, they shape the necks a little bit so that it feels like the guitar has been played and beaten up for 20 years. There's something extremely magical about having a guitar that's been played – you know a 1961 Strata caster hasl ost a lot of wood off the back of the neck, every nick and ding has its own story. This is a marriage of two things we want in our industry. We want the modern technology of Fender's built quality, to have really great instruments, but we want them to look like we've played them for 100 years. That way if you take your new guitar home to Joey Fischer and hits it into the coffee table and it gets a scratch, who cares? These are great guitars. Fender has four levels of guitars, an import series built in China, a facility right below the California border in Mexico, one that's right above the border in California, and then they have their custom shop in California. This falls in the Mexican facility, with the same components that would be in American guitars. A wonderful quality in terms of the fit and finish and the stuff ...

Hi my name is John Fischer and I'm the owner and founder of Stickergiant and today I want to tell you about spot color printing versus four color process printing. We're gonna start with spot color printing first, by far the most popular type of sticker we print is spot color printing - probably 80-90% of our stickers are spot color. There are some advantages:spot color stickers last longer and are less expensive. This is an example of a one color sticker black on a white sticker substrate for Zombie Compact Claw. This is an example for Gold's Gym of a two color sticker black and yellow. Very durable very inexpensive with a standard circle shape. Here's an example of a four spot color sticker, not four color process, but four spot colors. Yellow, red, black and blue colors in this sticker. They're all separate and none of the colors are combined to create other colors. That's one of the characteristics of spot color printing, we don't blend the colors together very often to make other colors. This is a fantastic high end four spot color sticker. It's die cut on a removable white vinyl. It's got four special colors. A fantastic sticker. This sticker is a very long lasting sticker for my friends at Tech Cocktail - Frank Ruber, Eric Olsen great guys, make a great drink. So that is Spot color printing. The advantages are it's less expensive. It's longer lasting, that ink when we print spot color we can print silk screen so the ink is thicker on the substrate so it's gonna lasts longer in the intense sulight. The other kind of printing we do, and we do it really well, is four color process printing. Four color process uses the same four inks always: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. THose four colors - Cyan, basically a light blue, Magenta, a dark red, yellow and black. Those are combined together to make thousands of colors. StickerGiant’s custom printing team has been churning out some really cool projects lately. When Aviary came to us for stickers we checked out their online image editor aplpplication “Phoenix” and were impressed. If you want the power of Photoshop, but can’t afford the steep price, try Phoenix. From the moment you log into Phoenix it is evident that this is a quality tool, everything about it is slick. The sticker we did for them is slick as well, it features their logo on a die-cut removable white vinyl printed with one color. If it’s the week before Labor day and you’re in the Black rock desert of Nevada, Chances are you’re at Burning Man. The Week long Art life gathering that culminates with the Burning of an 80ft effigy. We printed this cool Mylar sticker for the Burning Man community this year promoting the theme of the 2008 burning man, American Dream. If you haven’t been to Burning Man there isn’t much point trying to describe it, let’s just say its a radical departure from your standard Labor Day get together. Speaking of radical, Flo-Rida is a rapper from the great state of Florida. Tramar Dillard aka Flo-Rida is known for his #1 song “Low”. We printed stickers promoting his hugely popular birthday party performance at the Cameo Theater in Miami Beach October 5th, 2008. This is a classy 3-color paper sticker. Black, Metallic Gold and Red were used to create a unique effect. These stickers were used to decorate gift bags for his birthday bash. Like Hip Hop veteran Josh Martinez, Josh is the hardest working guy on the Hip Hop scene. He has toured for 5 straight years, created tons of new music, and spawned 2 new bands, the Chicarones and The Pissed Off Wild. We printed promotional stickers for his latest album release and his other band “The Chicarones” both of these projects are on Camobear Records, Josh’s own record label. Check out Josh’s music and go see him live, you will thank me later. Another Great Band is Big Head Todd And The Monsters. Todd Park Mohr leads up this group of musicians and songwriters from Colorado. Their laid back and slightly jazzy style has attracted a loyal fan base in the Mountain States and Beyond. The band came to us for a series of 3 sticker designs that are sure to please. Their album Sister Sweetly went platinum in the United States, but I think that their new album “All the love you need” is the best work they have ever done. StickerGiant has landed a deal to carry a full line of Pizz stickers. Legendary Long Beach artist Pizz is the king of the low brow art scene. These stickers are die-cut and printed on a super high quality vinyl stock. His art and the ’58 Bel Air Coupe he drives has been on the scene since the 70s when he was an artist at Ed “Bigg Daddy” Roth Studios. Pizz and his peers have influenced pop-culture for 40 years, next time you see a tiki bar, some surf shorts or a hot rod, think of Pizz.

StickerGiant's custom printing team has been hard at work making stickers for cool people and companies all over the world.  Like PURBLU, PurBlu has a business proposition that is compelling, ten cents from every bottle sold goes to a charity. Each bottle design represents a different cause. So picking a bottle is like picking a charity. The folks at PurBlu beverages came to us with an incredible project. We gave them a set of stickers that represented the diversity of the causes that PureBlu supports. These stickers were printed silkscreen and die cut into these cools shapes. Tom Vilot a local technologist and educator came to us for some stickers for his outstanding blog that answers questions about the cosmos. Tom was in a hurry and on a budget, so we stuck with a standard stock and standard inks and came up with a killer 2-color sticker printed on our vinyl stock.
