This is hard to see, but this tree was virtually split in half, just yards away from the tree shown in the previous video. Just beyond this tree was a tree that had been uprooted.
This tree, along 36th St., near Duchesne Academy and just up the street from my home, was snapped off just below ground level. It missed directly hitting three parked vehicles.
Traveling through the Dundee area, you see one of many traffic signals city wide that are not operating due to widespread power outages. Estimates were that 126,000 OPPD customers lost power during the storm.
Very few traffic lights were working on the trip home. Tree debris was everywhere. Hard to believe that this devastation was NOT caused by a tornado, but rather by straight-line winds from a thunderstorm.
Here's a better view of the stalled police car on Underwood Blvd. Note the vehicle beyond the police car. That was one of the drivers who chose to brave the flooded street, but didn't make it. As I pan, the water rages off the street toward a gulley. It has been raging through here for 20-30 minutes, even though the storm only lasted for about 15 minutes.
To the other side of my vehicle, the sidewalk looks like a mini river, and the flooding is evident beyond. Note the police car (on Underwood Blvd.). It is stalled in 2-3 feet of water.
Within minutes, the storm is nearly played out, but has has dumped huge amounts of rain. The street where I was parked looked a bit like a river at this point.
