When Lexie Hoskins' husband and baby die within months of each other she is forced to leave their beloved India and return to England. Providence, however, has another fate planned. Shipwrecked on Castaways Island, with an orphaned baby the same age as her own, she is discovered by David Ackerman who takes them home to his family. Faces turn pale and she is told he doesn't exist when she asks about him. He does, of course, and Lexie will have no one else, but can she love him after his secret is divulged and even then can they survive years of trials and tribulations of living on an uninhabited island?
