Former General Manager, Paula Y. Kregg reflects on the history of The Oscar Micheaux Theatre and its impact on the black community of Buffalo, NY. The Oscar Micheaux Theatre was opened in 1979 and lasted through the early 1980's showcasing non-exploitative programming geared towards the black and hispanic communities through classic films such as Raisin in the sun, Carmen Jones and The Learning Tree. it presented dance, music live theatre productions and various other community events as well. It also featured cartoons and puppet shows for children every saturday.
