Cycling for the whole family became a popular form of transportation from the early 1930's when a combination of rising wages & falling production costs finally made bicycles affordable for working people.
As a family we enjoy portraying a cycling family at events and when we have found it to be an interesting attraction for visitors, especially when we combine it with a period picnic.
In 1994 the Sealed Knot re-enacted the battle of Stony Stratford on the Mill fields.
This is a re-enactment of an English Civil War battle which never really happened, but it was jolly good fun.

A small video clip taken at the Call to Arms in Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes in 1994. The event was the forerunner to a large English Civil War battle re-enactment on the Mill Fields.
With the press saying we will be paying £100 for our festive turkeys, I thought it was time to get the wartime cook book out and I found a festival alternative called mock turkey. Made from sausage meat, apple and onion, even has parsnips for turkey leg bones. Not a feather in sight.
