TEXAS THIEVES
The Texas Thieves take me back to a simpler time of Backyard BBQ with the local boys blasting out skate rock and punk for you and all your friends, while you got shit faced on what ever brew was around. It's almost the same if you grab a couple buds and some beers and head down to Annies to check out their show May 16th, I say do it!
Grab some Friends and get some beers in ya and start a pit, yeah you heard what I said....
ParasitesGo!
When I first saw Parasites Go! @ Gilman St. I must have been so jaded, these guys set up on the floor with their little amps, cranked them up to 10 and then they blew my mind. The vocals we're amazing, the tunes were memorable and engaging, it summed up all the teen angst of the last 30 years of Bay Area Punk music, and after my mind was blown, they gave us all their demo CD, and it's the best punk I've heard in a long long time. Check out their tunes "Lame city, Why, & Rejection" on Myspace, or check out some live video's by searching YouTube. And if you're lucky Parasites Go! will be headed to a town near you this summer, a tour is in the works!! Next Local Show 5/3.
The Blank Stares
Since Forming in 1999 in NYC, The Blank Stares have transplanted their retro yet original brand of rock and roll to the Bay Area and have quickly become one of San Francisco's Greatest live Rock Power Trios. The Blanks Stares formula starts with three talented musicians with great voices, three (possibly four) chords, and melody-driven songs that make me dance in my car. Check out "Baby Superstar" or "Missy" on myspace, but you have to check out their Album, All Blown Up, now available from Full-Tilt Records, recorded by Elton Ridge and Eric Haas @ Rodent Records. next show May 4th!!

Frontman Todd Cakus gets the crowd up and moving and the tunes keep everyone rockin to their set. And when Lead Guitarist Mark Breshears steps up to the front of the stage, he pulls out his signature ripping hot leads that take their sound to a whole new level. Check them out at a special Free Show!! Monday Metal night @ San Mateo's Route 92 with the Midnight Bombers.
THE GRANNIES
These old chics sure know how to Rock, and have done so on over 45% off the earths surface, which is pretty cool considering 70% is under water. The Grannies have a saying: "if you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. But if you knock him down and take his fish, you can sell it and buy some weed." The Grannies have been around since before the dawn of Womankind, but they still haven't figured out how to take a shower. SASSY!!!
Lynda Mandolyn (Guitar) aka Trixie Delicious (Fabulous Disaster/Inside Out) and Christa DiBiase (Drums) aka Kitty Largewood (Koolie Cat/Girl Band) decided to team up and create a harmonic/garage extravaganza. Sick of the "pop punk" scene, Lynda was looking for a drummer who could harmonize with her, enjoyed long walks on the beach and cranked Andrew Sisters songs and Laura Lee tunes instead of the Sex Pistols. They both enjoy binge drinking, fake eyelashes and shopping at Wet Seal. So far in their short career they've shared the stage with The Donnas, The Dickies, Von Iva, Donita Sparks, Dolly Rots and the White Barons to name a few. Their self titled 4 song demo recorded by Aaron Nudelman is already an underground favorite. Look out for their debut cd "Get A Grip" coming out in early 2008, Go check them out!!
Midnight Bombers
is a band with a little mud on their shoes, a little blood on their hands and spit on their lips! Head smashing, on the edge of violence, bottle-crashing punk rock. Get yourself a copy of their CD "Evil Streets" avail. on Wondertaker , Turn it on, turn it up, and move all of the furniture out of the room or you may just hurt yourself.
