On May 24, 2007 at approximately 6:40 a.m. The West Palm Beach Police Department was called in reference to a murder, which had just occurred in the 1200 block of N. Sapodilla Avenue. Police arrived at the scene and found the victim had been killed, the result of gunfire. The victim was subsequently identified as black male Clyde Bethea, 33 y.o.a.
Investigation revealed, Bethea and several other people were in front of 1212 N. Sapodilla Avenue when two black males ran up to the group, south bound on N. Sapodilla Ave. from Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard. The two gunmen opened fire on Bethea, striking him numerous times. He later expired while on scene. The two gunmen then fled from the scene. Unidentified people stole numerous items from Bethea as he lay dying . Detectives identified several witnesses who thus far refuse to positively identify the two gunmen. Two suspects have been developed as the gunmen, but because of the witnesses refusal to cooperate they are still free.
The suspects were captured on near by video surveillance as they ran toward Bethea. Although the video quality is poor, persons from the surrounding neighborhood may recognize the suspects from their physical features and clothing.
