Ariel Aparicio teamed up with Brooklyn’s remixer du jour, Pocketknife, to rework his version of the classic Psychedelic Furs’ song “Pretty In Pink” into a colorful dancefloor number. Aparicio had originally recorded a more rock-oriented version to honor a close friend who was battling breast cancer.
Pocketknife ended up stripping most of the original cover version away, keeping Aparicio’s vocals and reworking the song’s instrumentation into a house-driven number replete with a killer synth/piano combo and his trademark percussion. Aparicio’s guitarist from his backing band, the Hired Guns, added some textural guitar highlights to round out the mix.
