Annette - Tour of the Wild Heart Ranch Clinic

Come see where it all begins! A pre spring peek at our facility before the babies fill us up and Im too busy to take the time to film it. From the trail into the front door to the surgery table where we clean their wounds and give life saving care, this is where hundreds of lives will find that second chance in the coming months. We are proud of what we do and what we have built. We hope that you enjoy your visit!

Foxy Baby!!

04:55
This fix kit just came to us imprinted to people and dogs. Its not a preferred situation, but she is miserable in a cage having been allowed free to roam a house and have pets for playmates. She sees the denial of this freedom as unfair. They are very smart, and she gets very upset about it. We have decided we will accomodate her with a very secure soft release later in life, after her hunting skills are learned and she begins to turn wild. This is not a new situation for us and we know all the damage will be undone later when she matures. As soon as we take in another fox, raccoon or coyote appropriate for a den mate, we will stop all interaction with us and the domestic animals, and allow her to bond with another wild one. Otis the bulldog came to visit while the fox was out. Otis will not harm anything, but wants to see what she is. We missed the shots of the fox running up his back and jumping off his head. Watch closely while Otis is looking for her behind the blanket. You will see a skunk poke her head out the side (a domestic rescue) complaining there is a fox in her bed!!! Foxes do not make good pets and when one is found, PLEASE get it to a rehabilitator for care immediately. Had I gotten this kit when she was first found, we could have avoided imprint and her time with us would be much shorter. As it is now, a week of cuddling will cost her a year of captivity and maybe a lifetime of come and go care.

Kiara the Cougar...My Best Friend...

05:38
This cougar, Kiara, came to my wildlife rescue as a baby more than ten years ago, and had been brutalized by a breeder and was in horrible shape. (see "Kiara's story" at www.wildheartranch.org) Since then, she and I have formed a bond unlike any other Ive shared with any animal. She doesnt much care for people, but always makes sure I know how much she appreciates her life here. I tried to capture her affection in this video. She is absolutely precious when we are alone, and purrs non stop. Its very magical to spend time with her and I wanted to share this. She wasnt crazy about the camera, but you can get the idea. She is overweight, but she spent some hungry days before I took her in, and she expects her food each day. I hate cages, so I make up for it by spoiling her. Yes, I CAN go in with her, but I do not. Accidents can happen. She is what she is, which is a potentially dangerous predator. I love her through the cage wall and that keeps me safe, and in turn, keeps her safe, but I have to admit, I trust her completely. Like I said, she's my best friend.

BOBCAT Vs. BULLDOG!!

06:15
Bob and Otis battle it out in a wrestling match! These are two of our adopted rescues. Bob was found starving and stray without any claws, and Otis was born harelip and cleft palate with a deformed jaw, unable to nurse anything, and came to us at 3 hours old. This is something we get to watch every day. I FINALLY recorded it. Otis does not live in the cage with Bob, and the cage is a double decker with a top floor hooch and balcony with a full catwalk and ramps. Bob can get away from Otis at any time. These two are true pals and have been all their lives. They love to wrestle. Enjoy!
