"41 Variations on R.C.J." addresses the inter-relationship we have as individuals to each other and to history. In politics elected officials/politicos/contractors, etc. have a deep inter-relationship and interdependence with each other. This is part of the political process; they work and interact with at least the minimum amount of cooperation. The inter-relations, whether it be as enemies or allies or patrons, drives their careers and adds to their successes or failures. The possibility of favors and betrayal from these allies and enemies is ever present. Every person with a career in politics or government always has at one time a close relationship with a figure that one would rather forget or ignore. Our history is part of our makeup. Sometimes past is prologue.

"Extending it's Helping Hand" is a brief interpretation the influence and arc of the political career and life of Robert C. Janiszewski (Hudson County Executive, N.J. from 1988-2001). The video elicits inquiries into issues of shared personal and political histories and draws parallels with the archetypal Greek tragedy of the tragic figure, who’s downfall from the heights greatness is due to hubris or to some sort of tragic flaw. Janiszewski’s career as an elective official was one who rose as a reformer and fell as a convicted felon. "Extending it's Helping Hand" is part of a continuing series of multi-media work about a historical figure whose impact, deeds and misdeeds continue to reverberate in the Hudson County and New Jersey political scene.
