A warm day that was even warmer on stage in the direct sun. Folks sure are proud of hometown girl, Laura Orshaw. And, they should be. She can play that fiddle with the best, and has a wonderful voice that fits their music. With Cory Kodish, playing rhythm and doing a great job flatpicking his Martin, and George Woods, masterfully working his five string banjo, the trio fills the stage with a diverse selection of songs. They play music that takes you both back & forward in the bluegrass genre. With one song they are honoring the deep roots of the music, and with the next they are skillfully branching out on the limbs of the bluegrass tree. The Summer Reign Trio is a very talented group, and are getting better. Catch them on May 9, at An Evening of Bluegrass, at the Millbrook Playhouse, and at Smoked Country Jam on June 18-20, in Loganton, PA. The Arts Festival is in Athens, PA (a stones throw from Waverly, NY), and is a day well-spent, with all the vendors, crafters, & activites going on. VERY well organized.
