Fred Hampton was the deputy chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party. On December 4, 1969, Fred was murdered while he slept, by members of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, in conjunction with the Chicago PD and the FBI. Fellow Panther, Mark Clark, was also killed in the raid. Footage of the crime scene shot by filmmakers Mike Gray and Howard Alk, for their 1971 documentary, "The Murder of Fred Hampton", blatantly contradicted the "official" account of the raid.
