Last summer I was lucky enough to be part of a group of activists, teachers, artists, college students, and a film crew on a Colorado River pilot trip for an organization I'm proud to be associated with called the Wilderness Institute for Leadership Development. It was a truly inspirational week with Trathen Heckman (executive director of Daily Acts) and Nathaniel Corum (Architecture for Humanity).
Josh Steck, the indie filmmaker on the trip, built a custom rack that could be mounted on a tripod so three HD cameras could be positioned side by side for a super-wide-angle quasi wraparound perspective. I performed a song from my new CD on the tip of a raft as it rotated slowly on a flat stretch of river. It's a really cool perspective as the canyon wall drifts by behind me!
The song was recorded live in HD with a Zoom field recorder. You can watch this really cool video of one of my new songs (as well as some clips from our trip set to my song "Sails").
