REM and the late Barry Cowsill's songs are on this New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund tribute. Barry was NOMRF founder Jeff Beninato's bandmate in The Stragglers, and these are our memories of him. New Orleans Sculptor Jimmy Descant's designed a rocketship urn with one of the first Cowsill's tickets and the Peace Dove that was in Barry's pocket when he was found.
There's also footage of the New Wave Brass Band in Barry's second line from the river to Kerry's Irish Pub, playing replacement instruments donated by the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund.
We end with the Cowsills' singing "Indian Lake" at Barry's Memorial, including Vicki Peterson Cowsill of the Bangles.
Downloads at www.nomrf.org include REM's new live "South Central Rain" from Dublin courtesy of Warner Brothers Records, and "Kid" courtesy of Debbie Cowsill and the Estate of Barry Cowsill.
Rest in Peace Barry.

The New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund (www.NOMRF.org) offers Ian Hunter, Dr. John, the Kaiser Chiefs, Edwin McCain, Maia Sharp, James Andrews and Joe Topping. 100% of the proceeds will help the grass roots New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund. Leroy Jones, Katja Toivola-Jones, Craig Klein, Walter Williams as Kim Jong Il on clarinet represent on Mardi Gras Day with the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund marching alongside.
In honor of Liverpool musician Joe Topping's walk from Chicago to New Orleans, and of Joe's birthday today, here is the New Wave Brass Band, the Voodoo Vixens who planned his Wyndham welcome, the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund (NOMRF), Joe and friends waiting for the elevator at our welcome gala. It's how New Orleans said "thanks for the 3-month hike to raise awareness of our musicians' continuing plight." See nomrf.org for details.
Joe Topping, who's walked halfway to New Orleans to raise awareness, stopped by the NOMRF evacuation location and learned "Walking to New Orleans" as we imagine he'll get quite a few requests for it this month. (Big party when he gets to town!)
