A Hanukkah classic!
Originally animated in 2004, I'm bringin' it back for 2008!

This animation got millions of views before anyone was counting. It also made international headlines and played heavily on TV and radio.

How did it happen?

Before there was YouTube, there was flash animation. Jason Kwon, a Smooth-E fan from North Carolina, decided to practice his flash skills on my parody song, "Hanukkah Hey Ya!" He never intended it to be watched. He just tucked it into a dark corner of his "file-style" website.

As you can see, he did a great job, and people found out about it whether he liked it or not. It spread like wildfire online and offline, and Jason unintentionally hipped a lot of people to my work. Thanks, J!

I love this animation because Jason captured a lot of the humor of the song. His innocent lack of knowledge of Jewish traditions makes it even funnier!

LYRICS
Condominiums malls and tract homes
(x4)
It's Smooth-E
Why do I live like this?
This is a crazy town
People ask where I live
(Don't even get me started)
My life is suburban
(Shop at Wal Mart and Target)
Paradise, to pavement
(So I could park my car here)
Barely can pay my house payment
Yeah
All the people here buy stuff to impress you
All the streets looks just like A hundred others do
Applebee's is my idea of ethnic food
That's just where I come from, my hood!
Look for the street lights
It ain't the city or country
It's off the chain tonight
And by the chain, I mean Starbucks
And my friend's wife
I think she had her breasts altered
But that's just the culture of our lives
Right here in
Suburbia
All the houses look alike
Suburbia
There ain't nothing to do at night
Suburbia
Where the drugs are all prescribed
Suburbia
Suburbia
Condominiums malls and tract homes
(X2)
My H3 Hummer is so tall
(It's like ten-foot-three)
I can't park it at the mall
(With zero mpg)
My ladder without it, I couldn't get out
To go shop at Hot Topic
Robotic
All the people in line to get a tattoo
That will keep with the style for bout a year or two
Down the street, the kids ride on their Heelie shoes
On their way to soccer
Gooool!
Look for the street lights
It ain't the city or country
It's off the chain tonight
And by chain, I mean Subway
Costco super buy
CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid here
To keep us all sane for our lives
Right here in...
Suburbia
2.5 kids and a wife
Suburbia
All the collars here are white
Suburbia
We got problems, that we hide
Suburbia
Suburbia
Condominiums malls and tract homes
