With words and music by SF musician Tommi Avicolli Mecca "We all hate that 98" is aimed at Prop 98, which is on the June ballot in California. It would wipe out all rent control in the state. As the song says:
"We all hate that 98 but 99 is fine/ we all hate that landlord scheme to make those profits so obscene..."

A song from the Peaceniks, San Francisco's radical music duo. With original lyrics and music by Tommi Avicolli Mecca, guitarist and vocalist. Additional vocals by Diana Hartman. The song draws the connections between men going off to be killed in war and those who die in pursuit of work. Recorded live in SF at "the kitchen."
The Peaceniks, a radical music group in San Francisco, presents one of their most popular songs (done at numerous protests and events). In SF, more and more working-class and poor folks (including artists) are being displaced by upscale folks. SF is losing the edgy people who always made it the famous radical city it was. The reality is that if it wasn't for cheap rentals, the Summer of Love, the Haight Ashbury scene, the Castro and many other things would never have happened.
The Peaceniks is Tommi Avicolli Mecca (guitar/vocals/songwriter) and Diana Hartman (vocals) with occasional other guests such as Jenny Wiley (violin/vocals).
