Ketawang Sari, Pelog Pathet Limo. Sumunar Gamelan and Dance Ensemble with David Stenshoel on violin. Tri Sutrisno is the dancer and choreographer. In this new work by Joko Sutrisno, the structure and main melody are traditional, but the metallophone instruments (saron, demung, slenthem) have unusaual tonal combinations that are rarely used in traditional composition. Sari is one movement from Galo, a concerto for gamelan and cello commissioned by the National Music Museum in 2005. The cello part is played here by David Stenshoel on violin. The performance took place on Sunday, April 6, 2008, at the F.K. Weyerhaeuse Auditorium in St Paul, Minnesota.
