Sheila Kirsten Hughes Band - A Peaceful Solution (Willie Nelson)

WEBSITE: www.skhughes.com FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD OF THIS TRACK: www.skhughes.com/mp3/skhughes_peaceful_solution.mp3 A couple of weeks ago, folks from Willie Nelson's PRI site got in touch with us and asked if we'd consider covering "A Peaceful Solution," a song Willie wrote with his daughter Amy early one morning on his tour bus. I checked out the song, and thought it would be fun to cover. Encouraged to make our own version of the song, I sat down with my guitar and to see what I could come up with. Once I got the main riff down, I started to hear cello and violin in my head. Then Chris heard it and chimed in with the bass, then came up with the idea of including our good friend Alex Wolfe Parnes on drums. Before you know it, Alex was playing electric guitar, too, and we had this full production song going. Then Chris came up with the idea of shooting the video for it in our 1963 GMC tour bus for "someday" (it needs a lot of work). Since Willie wrote the song on his tour bus with his daughter, it seemed fitting. Turns out, the bus makes a great set since it's gutted out and dingy inside. Next, JWG Productions, the guys who shot our video for "Different People," offered to help us shoot this video, too, along with our good friend David. We had a great time shooting it. Just a blast, and I hope that comes through in the video. Big thanks to Willie Nelson's PRI site for the opportunity! Enjoy. SONG CREDITS: Originally written by Willie and Amy Nelson. This version arranged by Sheila Kirsten Hughes. TRACK CREDITS: Produced by Sheila Kirsten Hughes. Engineered and mastered by Chris Hughes. Sheila Kirsten Hughes - vocals, guitar, piano, cello, violin Chris Hughes - bass Alex Wolfe Parnes - drums, lead guitar CREATIVE DIRECTION: Chris Hughes. Additional ideas contributed by the tribe -- Alex Wolfe Parnes, Wesley Greene and James Geiger (JWG Productions), and our good friend David. FOOTAGE FILMED BY: Wesley Greene (JWG Productions), Chris Hughes, Sheila Kirsten Hughes, and our good friend David. VIDEO EDITED BY: Sheila Kirsten Hughes, Chris Hughes, and James Geiger (JWG Productions) Special thanks to Alex, David, Wes and James for being a part of this!

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY: Sarah Pigeon SPECIAL THANKS TO: Al and Becky Alvarez for Chez Rebal, and to Karen Lowman for providing a loving environment for all of the 'different' people. LYRICS: Somewhere he is marching To the end of his road Puts his hand to his forehead To salute us as he goes Somewhere in a schoolyard They make fun of the little girl But she just swallows the tear drops And never says one single word So many different people So many different lives So many beautiful faces So many stories in their eyes And I only know a few But I never took the time to get to know you Get to know you like I could Somewhere she is kneeling With a gun in her hand Wipes the tears from her crying eyes She points the barrel to her head But then a voice stops the trigger Someone's calling her name She tiptoes to the window She's smiles when she sees his moonlit face So many different people So many different lives So many beautiful faces So many stories in their eyes And I only know a few But I never took the time to get to know you Get to know you like I could Somewhere stands a tattooed man Clothed in leather and chains and spikes Makes you scared to go near him But you wouldn't be so scared if you knew his reasons why Why he holds you at a distance Why his heart can't be found He locked it up in his fortress The day they tore him up, the day they broke him down So many different people So many different lives So many beautiful faces So many stories in their eyes And I only know a few But I never took the time to get to know you Get to know you like I could Yes, I only know a few But I'd like to take the time to get to know you Get to know you like I could

We Are All We Need - Sheila Kirsten Hughes Band

03:45
This is the very first live performance of our brand new song "We Are All We Need." I wrote it about a week before this concert and I'm playing it on a guitar I'd bought just the day before, so I'm not quite acclimated to it. Our performance isn't polished, but I wanted to share it with you anyways.

The War

04:25
A song I wrote when my brother was in the army and his troop was about to be sent to Kosovo. I was really concerned for his safety and really didn't want him to go. I just wanted to make the war go away. This song is my expression of that emotion.
