I shaved off all of my body hair (save my eyebrows!) in order to somehow transform myself into the new being I wanted to physically represent onscreen. I laid naked in the dirt in freezing temperatures and ran across a train trestle that spanned an extremely deep ravine. I conquered fear for this video and felt like a new being myself when Lee yelled, "That's a wrap!" It was the last video we shot but was the start of our story. We came up with the story line for Spring the night before we left to Victoria to try and shoot it. We had little to no idea where or how we would find our locations only that we had come this far by letting the story reveal itself to us and therefore we trusted that the same would prove to be true for this part of our film. The character awakens to find himself alone in a forest. He comes across a small table in the woods on which sits a cupcake with a balloon. They are meant to represent a message from the gods, a beacon on his path to attract his attention. They signify that a decision is forthcoming. Devouring the cupcake symbolizes a lack of foresight -once something is gone, it's gone and he must carry on without it. The balloon represents the innocence of youth and by focusing on the immediacy of his greed, he forsakes a part of his connectedness that he will spend the rest of his journey trying to recapture. The table sits at a crossroad, the first of many that the character will encounter. To his right, a wide and well beaten path. It's downhill slope represents how easy it might be to follow the path laid out by others. To his right, a new set of clothes lies slightly off an unbeaten path. The clothes represent the will of the gods; if he decides to follow the road less travelled and take the challenge set forth, he can be assured that the gods will provide for him on his journey and encourage him to continue. No matter how difficult the path seems, the reward will be infinitely greater for the strength and wisdom the tougher lessons will provide to his spirit. With the journey complete, we brought our tribal film crew together for one last hurrah before we would all head our separate ways to pursue our goals and reach for our dreams. -My amazing friends came together to help me create a stunning visual companion (Seasons: A Film Journey) which is packaged with the record.
