MATTEITE RECORDS PRESENTS
Dejligt's Second Video: Chop Chop (Brighton Grove)
This is the second track chosen by Matteo Danese (ex-Ulan
Bator, Here) and Enrico Molteni (3 Allegri Ragazzi Morti /
Fargo) to represent their new album that was released in
February 2007. The album is "Feed the Dog", and they are
Dejligt, pronounced "Die - Lit" , which in Danish means
"cool".
Matteo Dainese's comments about the song:
"Brighton Grove is the neighborhood of the house where I
used to live for a while in Newcastle Upon Tyne, which is also
where I wrote the majority of the songs on the
album. "Chop Chop" talks about one of our regular parties in
the house, when alcohol abuse can twist
relationships between people, even those whom you are
completely in love with.
In one word: Dejligt!"
Carlo Strada, the Director of "Chop Chop" talks about
the video:
"The new video of Dejligt, "Chop Chop (Brighton Grove)" is
an acknowledged homage to the great video director Zbig
Rybczynsky, with a nod in particular to one of his minor works, "Mein
Fenster" (1979).
The peculiarity of this video (very close to the Video Art
genre) is in the way it was shot, using complex
machinery, a method we might call "Rotorama", which gives the
illusion of fixity while the idea of movement is generated
by all the "free" objects subject to the force of
gravity.

DEJLIGT’s
Beat the Gong video
Introducing the debut video from DEJLIGT, "Beat the Gong"! Those two bad boys AKA Matteo Dainese (ex Ulan Bator, Here, Meathead) and Enrico Molteni (Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Fargo) fell in love with the same tunes then gave birth to the first DEJLIGT album,"Feed The Dog", which will be released on Matteite records (distributed by Venus) on the 16th of February 2007. "Feed
the Dog" is a small masterpiece of indie-pop rock in sung English, mixed with the most minimal yet disarming electrionica.
The chosen track is "Beat the Gong" - metaphorically concerning a new beginning or maybe a new start or possibly a drastically new change. The video is the fruit of labor from a job that occurred in August 2006 by 2 different teams in 2 different locations. The first filming session was done in Denmark, in the park
of an Odense Kindergarden, by the amazing Danish photographer Thomas Hvidnat, who helped by a DEJLIGT (lovely) sunny day , in capturing the most spontaneous and simple views of the two starring protagonists' show: Matteo"Matteite"Dainese and the sweet and DEJLIGT Emily Segala Bennett. The second part of the video clip had been filmed in Ferrara (Italy) outside and inside the hosting Natural Head Quarter Recording studio. In this segment we had the skilful Alessandra Zizza on camera as well as in the editing booth with the Matteite & Andrea Pollini, the montage and ultimately the direction of this genuine video charter of DEJLIGT.
Enjoy the video!
A few words about BEAT THE GONG by DEJLIGT
"Beat the Gong" is a story of a girl who wants to leave behind her complicated past after finding herself a powerless spectator observing all the unrecoverable years that she wasted. We decided to film Emily ( the kid in the video) without imposing anything
or telling her anything particular to do . We pretty much gave her complete freedom on the set to dance or walk around, which was exactly what we were looking for. Emily's candid attitude and young age completely reflected the sweet and simple side of the protagonist of the song who, in fact, is trying to make a fresh start and maybe wishing to be a kid again like Emily, and Beat this new Gong.
