Oh the anticipation of receiving a package in the mail...

I decided to direct this video myself.. the concept seemed simple enough so why not? turned out to be a bigger task than i had imagined and i quickly had to teach myself how to actually make a music video. We put word out there for people to submit videos of themselves holding signs with whatever their dreams are, what inspires you to actually wake up i the morning and participate in society. why do people even bother? what are your goals? we wanted the first thing that came to peoples mind. We got so many amazing submissions from all around the world... plus we went out on the streets and randomly asked people to participate... surprisingly most people in nyc didn't even think twice, they grabbed the marker and wrote something down. As word spread about this video we ended up getting far more submissions emailed to us than we could ever use. We could easily make another 4 versions of this video... one of them alone could be dedicated to 'love' and 'happiness' by far the biggest responses. some of the responses were so creative they had to make it in. I had a great time making this video and watching everyones submissions... Not only did i learn how to make a music video i also learned a lot more about people. We all seem to want similar things, its more the priority for which we pursue these things that makes us who we are. nathan

spring 2008

Over the Summer we filmed this video directed by the brilliant Ian Fischer. It was a truly historic day as we set up the full band and played in a number of restricted locations around Manhattan. We approached it 'Gorilla' style, no permits, no warnings and no permission. Just run in, set up as fast as possible and play as long as we could before the police came. We knew going in that it was dangerous but that it would also be really exciting - two things severely missing from Rock N Roll these days. The outcome of the day completely exceeded our expectations. We're pretty sure that we are the first band ever to set up smack in the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge floating Hundreds of feet over the East River With the entire city as our backdrop as we rocked out with about 100 people that happened to be there. But perhaps setting up right in the center of times square and watching the crowd around us swell so deep that it started blocking traffic as hundreds of strangers photograph, film, dance and cheer for us was one of the highlights of the whole day. How did some very militant protesters deal with us setting up right next to them in Union Square? How did the fine people dining outside in the meat packing district react to the rock? How many tickets did we get? Did we eventually get arrested? Where else did we go? "Hi Gye's.. I Saw you at Union Square when the parkpolice interupted your video:-) It was one of the highligts of our (me and my wife's)New York trip.. Ive never seen a more surealistic rock n roll scene in my life.. YOU REALLY ROOOOOOCK!!!!!!"
