James Doman is Canada's next hottest export. As a DJ and producer his star is firmly in the ascendant, and his new bomb, 'Everything's Gonna Be Alright', released on Positiva in August, is set to make him a mainstay of the UK dance scene.
Renowned for his melodic, uplifting house, James' various productions are currently being hammered by anyone ranging from Pete Tong, Dubfire, Axwell, Steve Angello, and Tiesto, to Judge Jules (on Radio 1), Andi Durrant and Sarah Main. 'Everything's Gonna Be Alright' has also picked up radio support from Radio 1's Essential Selection, Steve Smart and Simon Dale on Kiss, Andi Durrant on Galaxy, and more.
A major name on the Canadian scene, he's forged a successful main room residency at Toronto's world famous club, Circa (owned by North American club legend, Peter Gatien, and which immediately picked up several awards after opening), playing alongside international jocks, such as David Guetta, Morillo, and more. This summer, at Circa and beyond, he'll be joining Tiesto, Danny Tenaglia, and Sebastian Leger, to name but a few.
As would befit someone with world-class production skills, his approach to DJing somewhat mirrors that of James Zabiela. Doman uses the DJ booth like his studio, mixing live with Ableton and Serrato, while over 50% of his set is made up of re-edits and live bootlegs. The result is a unique performance that each week attracts 3500 clubbers onto Circa's dancefloor.
'Everything's Gonna Be Alright' is his take on Red Carpet's classic underground anthem, 'Alright'. James has reworked the original and dropped in the piano hook from Ce Ce Rogers 'Someday'. A guaranteed floorfiller, it's been Tiesto's biggest record of the past 12 months - the Dutch superstar had the only copy - and is currently one of the most sought after tracks of the year. Expect to hear this at every major dance festival, club, and Ibiza night during summer '08.
Remixes come from: Carl RydEn, J Majik & Wickaman, Nicole Moudaber, TS7, Soul Avengerz, Mat Bradshaw, and Franklin Reeves.

Euro-pop's biggest star, Velvet, unleashes her debut UK single, 'Fix Me'.
With the genre currently storming the charts with every release, euro-pop with a Scandi beat is fast replacing R&B as the UK's Saturday night music of choice. Leading the charge is Swedish chanteuse, Velvet.
At home, Velvet has outsold fellow Scandinavian pop heroine, September, by some margin, becoming a YouTube phenomenon in the process, and with Viking-like zeal, she's about to conquer the UK (though she's promised pillaging will be kept to a minimum).
Velvet has already notched up several pan-European hits, including 'Deja vu' (No.2 in Sweden), 'Mi Amore' and 'Don't Stop Movin'', while her debut album, 'Finally', has cemented her status as Sweden's pop-queen de jour. Her current hit-in-waiting, 'Fix Me', is already a resort anthem over in the Med', and is now one of the most requested tracks across mainstream UK clubland.
Born Jenny Pettersson, Velvet grew up in the southern Sweden city of Helsingborg. As a teenager she moved to Stockholm to study at The Ballet Academy. Then as a student, she began working as a singer at Stockholm nightclubs to pay for her studies. Singing soon took over her life, and she became a backing vocalist for prestigious Swedish acts like Carola and E-Type.
Velvet kick-started her solo career with the singles '(Rock Down To) Electric Avenue' (a club take on the Eddy Grant reggae classic) and 'Don't Stop Movin'' (originally by UK act Livin' Joy), both became huge club and radio hits all over mainland Europe. 'Fix Me' trumped September's 'Cry For Me' in Scandinavia, and is set to repeat its success over here.
Mixes come from Gorgeous George, Spencer & Hill, Hypasonic, Flip & Fill, Jaimeson and Paleface.

Sarah Cracknell. An awesome video to accompany a true contemporary crossover pop/dance electronic record. Tipped for big things this track is released on February 4th.
