When my son, Ezra and I went to a Merkaz klita (absorption center) in Tzefat, Israel in the summer of 2006 we found a community of olim chadashim (new immigrants)from Ethiopia who showed amazing courage, resilience and optimism despite all the horrors that lay behind them in Ethiopia, living in a cramped "miklat" (bomb shelter) during the attacks from Hizbullah and all the challenges that lay ahead for them in the land of Israel.
