Fammerée - Notre Dame

... This movie is a visual exploration of a few of the themes in my spoken word poetry song "Notre Dame". The images of greenblue plankton blooms are there to focus awareness of our eternal dependence on the life-giving waters and their distribution through complex networks (such as those employed to this day on the island of Bali). The collective maintenance of irrigation channels was the main impetus towards civilization in the earliest river-valley cultures. The movie also includes icons of a triad of angelic beings (known collectively as the Amesha Spenta) who are revered in the ancient Zoroastrian tradition as the protectors of the environment and the natural world. They are known as Armaiti, Haurvatat and Ameretat. They are "The Three Wise Women of the Magi" and their names mean Holy Devotion, Wholeness and Immortality. See Amesha Spentas (Wikipedia) for further details. This triad of female angels are associated with the life of the earth, the waters and all plants in addition to being the embodiments of divine and human virtue. They exist as a reminder of the beauty and the sacred nature of our environment - the original matrix upon which all life depends. ... I am grateful to Miranda Rondeau (www.myspace.com/mirandasmuse) for granting permission to use portions of her film of a Balinese priestess in this movie. .:.
