HIS­TO­RY:THE IM­PE­RI­AL GANG­STERS Orig­i­nat­ed in the west hum­boldt park neigh­bor­hood in the late 1960's as the im­pe­ri­al span­ish gang­sters" the gang's main stronghold was the in­ter­sec­tion of grand and di­vi­sion.shorty there­after a group called the im­pe­ri­al gang­sters start­ed in the lo­gan square neigh­bor­hood :the fre­quent­ed the in­ter­sec­tion of west ar­mitage and north drake .in about 1969 the gang­sters of west hum­boldt and lo­gan square merged al­tough EACH WOULD RE­TAIN IT'S OWN LEAD­ER­SHIP .the im­pe­ri­al span­ish gang­sters of west hum­boldt park al­so known as cameron gang­sters (due to most memders hav­ing went to cameron gram­mer school) were un­der the lead­er­ship of "spanky "and lat­er 'god­fa­ther" the im­pe­ri­al gang­sters of drake were un­der the lead­er­ship of oth­er promi­nant in­clud­ed "mad dog "and" lil bugs ", "tiny" modesto and ba­by huey." as the years passed both groups would even­tu­al­ly fall un­der the com­mand of < lil mex­i­co>. drop­ping the span­ish ti­tle in their moniker (hence ,im­pe­ri­al gang­sters na­tion) throughtout the ear­ly-​to-​mid 1970's the im­pe­ri­al gang­sters so­lid­i­fied their pres­ence in lo­gan sqare and it be­came their ma­jor stronghold. the gang stat­ed sev­er­al"sets: in lo­gan square as memder­ship in­creased. their prin­ci­ple en­e­my at this time were the g.l's .who op­er­at­ed along west alt­geld cor­ri­dor to the north of gang­sters ter­ri­to­ry as the years pro­gressed the gang would en­counter the" latin kings " .the war against the latin kings was es­pec­tial­ly vi­o­lent .many mem­bers of both the kings and gang­sters would lose their lives. in­clud­ing a high­ly re­spect­ed fe­male memder of the i.g's.in trib­ute to this fe­male memder the im­pe­ri­al gang­sters adopt­ed the col­ors pink and black.
