Description:
Todd Rundgren has just released his best album in thirty years: "Arena."
It seems to have two thrusts, a tribute musically to the guitar rock of the seventies like Robin Trower, Jeff Beck and AC/DC.
Lyrically, it's all about getting off yer butt RIGHT NOW, as it is in this AC/DC homage which he played on Letterman, "Strike (While The Iron Is Hot)."
So to all of you Obama workers who just kicked Republican butt, it's not time to relaxe and just let our man save the world with the other Federal bureaucrats.
We will have to be out there relentlessly, all the time, during the next four-to-eight years to assure that Obama's and Congress's energy and focus is maintained in the right areas: e.g. Yes to Conservation, Public Transportation, and Smart Building, and No to Nukes, any Oil Drilling anywhere, and "Clean Coal" (sic).
OK? So Todd's right, We must keep striking while the iron is hot! Letterman obviously gets it.
And if they come near you, go check out Todd's triple guitar threat quintet with Prairie Prince, drummer of The Tubes. You won't regret it. Todd, like Frank Zappa, is one of those amazing musicians you'll be really glad you saw while he passed through.
To Todd fans, it's his best since "Oops! Wrong Planet" in 1978. If you love "Oops!" you'll love "Arena."
"Arena" Gaiabilly rating: 5 Stars (My 2008 Album of the Year).
Are you Ready to Rumble?
I play this kind of music on my two music radio shows "Aural Sculpture" (Mind Movie Music) and "Rockin' In The Tree World" (the world's only Gaiabilly music show) alternating them every two weeks at http://www.kmud.org .
The shows are late, late, late every other Friday nights, so late that they are actually on Saturdays from 2-5 AM. You can also listen to them for two weeks after each show if you go to the KMUD Audio Archive and look up "Aural Sculpture."
