sen­sa­tion Daechelle has come a long way in five years. At the age of sev­en,
her life and bed­room were con­sumed by Bratz(TM), from her bed­spread and
blan­kets, to posters and dolls. Now, on Ju­ly 31, her song "Fear­less" will
ap­pear on the Bratz(TM) Mo­tion Pic­ture Sound­track [Gef­fen Records] along­side
such mul­ti-​plat­inum in­dus­try heavy­weights as Black Eyed Peas, Ash­lee Simp­son
and Life­house.
The song, now avail­able on iTunes, will al­so be fea­tured promi­nent­ly in
the live-​ac­tion Bratz(TM) film [Li­on­s­gate], which opens Aug. 3 on more than
2,000 screens na­tion­wide.
Daechelle was dis­cov­ered by Gef­fen Records when the la­bel host­ed a
con­test for un­signed artists to sub­mit tracks for con­sid­er­a­tion on the
Bratz(TM) Mo­tion Pic­ture Sound­track. Daechelle's record­ing of "Fear­less"
was cho­sen out of more than 4,000 en­tries. What Gef­fen didn't know, was
that it wasn't the first award for the song.
Car­ried by vo­cals that de­fy her young age and boast a pos­i­tive and
in­spi­ra­tional mes­sage, Daechelle's "Fear­less" al­so won the pop cat­e­go­ry in
the 2006 Bill­board World Song­writ­ing Con­test, as well as the Peo­ple's Voice
Award in last year's In­ter­na­tion­al Song­writ­ing Com­pe­ti­tion. The song was
co-​writ­ten by Pe­ter Roberts and Ron Boustead.
The jour­ney to Gef­fen Records start­ed for Daechelle Her­nan­dez, crowned
Lit­tle Miss Philip­pines Uni­verse in 2005, when her moth­er dis­cov­ered the
Bratz(TM) com­pe­ti­tion on­line. But her fu­ture with the record­ing com­pa­ny has
on­ly just be­gun. The la­bel which is the home of in­ter­na­tion­al su­per­stars
in­clud­ing Mary J. Blige, Ma­cy Gray and Nel­ly Fur­ta­do has signed
Daechelle to their ros­ter.
In ad­di­tion to film­ing a video for "Fear­less," Daechelle will soon
be­gin work on her de­but al­bum.
Says Gef­fen chair­man Ron Fair, "She has a com­mand­ing au­thor­i­ty, like
Christi­na Aguil­era did when I first signed her. When she starts singing,
you hear the con­fi­dence of an adult."
Bratz(TM) pro­duc­er Avi Arad says that Daechelle is "the per­fect
am­bas­sador" for the movie, cit­ing her Fil­ipino and Latin de­scent as
re­flec­tive of the dolls' di­ver­si­ty. The Bratz(TM) Dolls en­ter­prise has
