For the last fif­teen years, Rex Welche has been singing his songs in any rock club that will have him. Al­ways more of a crit­i­cal dar­ling than a chart top­per, Rex has strug­gled late­ly to main­tain an au­di­ence and his en­er­gy. Too many nights on the road, too many wom­en with names he can't re­mem­ber, too many half-​emp­ty clubs fi­nal­ly catch up with him one night be­fore a con­cert. It's left to his tour man­ag­er, J.D., and his open­ing act, the up-​and-​com­ing Pat­ty Danville, to do what­ev­er it takes to force him on­to the stage. Rex doesn't want to let down the sev­er­al hun­dred wait­ing fans, but it be­comes a mon­u­men­tal strug­gle for him just to leave the safe­ty of The Green Room...
