The Ring of Gul­lion is nes­tled in South Ar­magh, Ire­land. The Hills of South Ar­magh were tak­en over by the British Army who in­stalled watch­tow­ers, blight­ing the land­scape and ru­in­ing the hills. This song is about the dig­ni­ty of the peo­ple who live in South Ar­magh, and the hope that the watch­tow­ers would be dis­man­tled from the beau­ti­ful hills. The watch­tow­ers have near­ly all been tak­en down to date, leav­ing the beau­ti­ful land­scape of South Ar­magh for the peo­ple to en­joy.
