This song could be about want­ing back some­one one cares about but not suc­ceed­ing at it, like a spouse with Alzheimer's dis­ease or like a hope­less drug ad­dict ac­quain­tance. And in oth­er cas­es it could be about a child­hood friend one lost con­tact with due to their fam­i­ly mov­ing away to a bet­ter place and a bet­ter life, like a move from ru­ral to ur­ban and vice ver­sa. Or it could be about some­one one idolis­es whose life is falling apart in pub­lic. For me it is most­ly about my favourite sea­son. Au­tumn. It is about miss­ing it dur­ing the oth­er three sea­sons and lov­ing it when it is fi­nal­ly here. There's just some­thing so spe­cial about au­tumn. Maybe the fact that it's the sea­son when fly­ing in­sects start to dis­ap­pear has some­thing to do with it. As an avid bi­cy­clist I re­al­ly don't know why moth­er na­ture made aphids. There's like a bil­lion of them in your face dur­ing most of sum­mer. Sum­mer too is too hot and one gets all sweaty from ac­tiv­i­ties like bik­ing or any­thing re­al­ly. Too much al­ler­gens al­so. The light of au­tumn dur­ing its en­tire day is al­so a good rea­son to ap­pre­ci­ate au­tumn. I've nev­er been to Paris but I keep hear­ing or read­ing about how great the light over there is. For now, I'll just have to pre­sume that the light dur­ing au­tumn in my part of the world is some­thing like the light of Paris. The col­ors of au­tumn and au­tumn leaves are just love­ly too. And a fi­nal thing... next on­ly to win­ter, au­tumn pro­vides re­al­ly good con­di­tions for song cre­ation.
