I want to sug­gest Slaves, Wom­en Ho­mo­sex­u­als by William Webb as fur­ther read­ing on un­der­stand­ing the pas­sages on slav­ery and wom­en in the Bible. Since South­ern slave­hold­ers used to use scrip­ture to jus­ti­fy slav­ery and some to­day use it to jus­ti­fy dom­i­nat­ing wom­en, this book can be a good re­source.

The Bible ap­pears to con­tain many texts that sup­port slav­ery and the sub­mis­sion of wom­en. But when these texts are stud­ied in their orig­i­nal lan­guage and with­in the cul­tur­al con­text an­oth­er pic­ture ap­pears, that of God deal­ing with hu­mans with­in the sit­u­a­tion with­in which they find them­selves.
