Ver­mont song­writ­er, Bob­by Gosh, at­tend­ed the Demo­crat­ic Con­ven­tion with his su­per-​del­e­gate wife, Bil­li, and came home with a new song. Gosh was in­spired to write the Oba­ma song af­ter hear­ing a pro-​Mc­Cain song on TV in his ho­tel room in Col­orado. The song, sung by Gosh ac­com­pa­nied by back-​up singers, was writ­ten in one evening and record­ed in his stu­dio im­me­di­ate­ly up­on re­turn­ing home.
