Description:
I tried to get a video of my RT session, from patient POV, but I was too close to the thing to really fit it all in. You hear it running, see it moving from position to position, until it goes to my side and you can see the picture on the ceiling, somewhat. I guess I was expected to focus on that and kind of put myself somewhere pretty, but the machine gets into the way. Kind of like reality interjecting itself into your "happy place." One of the techs can be heard in the beginning, when she walked into the room and saw me with my camera on my face and said she wasn't going to ask questions and made me laugh and have to try to reset it. They were shifting me around a little, lining me up with tiny tatoos they'd given me. Then they left and I had to stay still until it was over. Each time you hear the high pitched buzz, I was being zapped. I tried not to breathe, then, so as not to get my lungs into the beam. It took a lot of resolve for me to lay there and allow radiation to be aimed at my chest...if you know anyone going through this, give her a lot of credit.
