Save Sacred Mound from Destruction! We are a protest group that is raising awareness about a sacred mound in Oxford, Alabama. Sams Club (owned by Wal-Mart) has been bulldozing the mound for fill dirt for the Sams Club property. The bulldozing has temporarily stopped but plans are to utilize this mound for monetary gain for the city while ignoring this mounds cultural significance. Archeology research from Jacksonville State University has been performed on this mound to prove to the city that there is justifiable reason to not touch this mound. Additionally, Native Americans explain that this mound has been important to them for special ceremonies even to this day.
