For mil­len­nia, hu­man be­ings have looked to the Po­lar Sky in awe of a phe­nomenon that fu­els folk­loric imag­i­na­tion and re­li­gious be­liefs, while at the same time de­fy­ing sci­en­tif­ic ex­pla­na­tion: the Au­ro­ra Bo­re­alis. Rid­dle of the Po­lar Sky takes us on a jour­ney to the top of the world to bet­ter un­der­stand the mys­tery of the mag­i­cal vi­su­al spec­ta­cle. But it is not just a quest to un­der­stand the work­ings of the Au­ro­ra – it is al­so a jour­ney to un­der­stand the play­ers be­hind the shim­mer­ing cur­tain of light – the un­pre­dictable so­lar wind thrown out by the Sun; and the mys­te­ri­ous mag­net­ic dy­namo at the cen­tre of the Earth.
