Description:
<p>New Hot Banana Studio remix of 2008s Monophobia reunion gig at the Purple Turtle in Camden Town, north London. Lacking only their keyboard player (who now lives in Austria) it is otherwise the usual live line-up: main songwriter Tony Longworth fronts the band flanked by bassist/co-writer/founder member ME (Phil Quinton) and guitarist/co-writer Nimesh Hathiwala. Backing them up on beats and samples is perennial live drummer Dave Bateman.

The audio has been mixed from a multitrack recording made by the sound engineer Pete on the night of the gig (fleeced £25, typical London sound engineer) interleaved with inter-song ambience from the camera mic.

Video has been captured on a tiny mpeg2 palmcorder by a friend of the rhythm section (whose band has been recorded by me a couple of times with Dave Bateman on drums) with a built-in disc drive and unfortunately operating in night vision mode which means a lot of the colours, even the colours on stage, are very unnatural. So for example some people have greenish skin and my slimming black top becomes a stomach-churning white blubbery mass threatening to envelop my 4-string.

Sound was remixed on Cubase 4.5 at Hot Banana Studio in October 2009 using IK Multimedia plugins for ambience and mastering, and the video has been edited on Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0. I have been meaning to remix this for over a year. The first mix I did last year was an acoustic disaster. Now I have a better acoustic space in which to mix I have been able to do the boys justice. I have also been able to minimize an incident during one of the songs when Nimesh had to stop to fix his pedal. Now it sounds more like the guitars have deliberately dropped out to give the rhythm section a bit of a solo jaunt.
