F-35 Lightning II
The newest 5th generation strike fighter. It fights off opponents easily as well performing strike missions. Though it shows VTOL capabilities here, in service it will only perform STOVL missions

this plan will be modified for each branch of the military. whatever they all want is what they will get. vtol for all if they wish, but no..the airforce will more than likely not order the vtol....they have the f22 anyways.

Actually they did tests on our Aircraft Carrier recently and VTOL is only Marine Corps. The navy version is going to have wider wings for carrier landings and they are going to have stronger struts.The Navy version wont even come till about 2015.

Just curious how accurate the discription was, was my understanding the USMC would be using it for VTOL. Any further info would be awesome
